Adding big spaces, making big moves
When it comes to meetings, Anaheim has
a great thing going. The largest convention
center on the West Coast is located in the
heart of the Anaheim Convention Center
(ACC) campus, a pristine and well-connected resort setting. The area is easily walkable
for groups, with a massive, palm-tree-lined
pedestrian Grand Plaza in front of the ACC
that serves as an ideal setting for large-scale
What’s more, meeting planners don’t have
to worry about how to shuttle in attendees, as
the area offers more than 8,000 hotel rooms
within a half-mile radius. The ACC is also eas-
ily accessible for attendees, with four airports
just a short distance away and a driving-dis-
tance market of 20 million. But Anaheim’s
meetings allure is about to become even
more attractive with an expansion of the
ACC — currently underway — that will allow
the destination to accommodate the needs
of more industries and groups.
Why is this new addition so important?
Events in general are evolving, and meeting
planners simply need more flexible, multi-functional space. Anaheim understands this.
The ACC team began the expansion process
after noticing a trend. If a group took up just a
portion of the current ACC’s five exhibit halls,
as well as the available meeting space, the
remaining exhibit halls were left vacant. The
new two-level building will add flexible meeting space to solve this issue.
The seventh expansion in the ACC’s history will add 200,000 square feet of flexible
space designed for meetings, exhibitions, and
events — 100,000 square feet of which will be
column-free and feature ceiling heights of 25
feet. This new addition will help attract large
corporate, technology, and medical meetings.
With windows and balconies overlooking iconic Katella Avenue, the new building
will also integrate attendees into the heart
of Anaheim in a whole new way. Besides
featuring an impressive new main entrance,
the building will also connect to the existing ACC via a climate-controlled pedestrian
bridge. In addition, 1,350 additional parking
spaces, new loading docks, and an improved
vehicular entrance will make logistics simple
