106 meeting rooms, three auditoriums, and
two ballrooms. The complex also contains
the 71,250-seat Georgia Dome and the amphitheaters, pavilions, and lush lawns of 21-acre
Centennial Olympic Park.
Atlanta’s compact convention corridor
has everything meeting attendees need for
a productive yet entertaining meeting experience. Within a one-mile radius of the GWCC
are 10,000 hotel rooms, along with some of
Atlanta’s most popular attractions, like the
World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium, the nation’s largest aquarium. Other venues in the neighborhood include the Atlanta
Convention Center at AmericasMart, which
has 100,000 square feet of contiguous space,
and 200 Peachtree, a historic landmark with
multiple event spaces.
Outside of downtown, Atlanta’s other
neighborhoods have plenty of options for
groups. Besides more than 4,500 hotel
rooms and 180,000 square feet of meet-
ing and event space, Midtown, also known
as the “heart of the arts,” is home to Alli-
ance Theatre, Fox Theatre, High Museum
of Art, and Museum of Design Atlanta. Just
north in Buckhead, planners will find 7,000
hotel rooms and 180,000 square feet of
meeting and event space along with some
of the most high-end shopping and dining
in Atlanta.
One of Atlanta’s biggest assets is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,
the busiest airport in the world in terms of
passenger traffic. The neighborhood surrounding it has its own sizeable convention
district, including 11,000 hotel rooms and
more than 250,000 square feet of meeting
space. The Georgia International Convention
Center, directly connected to the airport by
a free automated people mover, has another
150,000 square feet of exhibit space and two
LEED-certified convention hotels. If attendees want to head into the city, they can easily
reach downtown in less than 20 minutes by
car or MARTA.
