Host of Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, the College
Football Playoff National Championship in
2016, and NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2017, Phoenix knows how to welcome all kinds of groups,
large and small. Besides offering a meetings
destination that every attendee will love — it’s
the heart of the American Southwest, filled
with avant-garde neighborhoods, palm-can-opied resorts, and cactus-studded mountain
parks — Phoenix is backed by the support of
the experienced team at Visit Phoenix.
Visit Phoenix’s convention-services staff
can assist with all aspects of promotion and
planning. Not only does the organization act
as a liaison between meeting planners, its
member businesses, and key community
partners, it also offers an array of services
and initiatives, including:
› Dispatching representatives to a group’s
event the prior year to educate attendees
about the Phoenix meeting experience.
› Providing real-time dining and nightlife
recommendations to attendees via the
group’s hashtag on Twitter.
› Setting up customized discounts at
restaurants and attractions through the
“Show Your Badge” program.
› Coordinating site visits and city tours.
› Assisting with venue selection, creative
options for off-site events, registration
needs, and personnel.
› Connecting planners with local charitable
organizations for community-service
“The role of our convention-services man-
agers is simple: They act as an extension of
the meeting planner,” said Rich Cerino, direc-
tor of convention services at Visit Phoenix.
“Their mission is to free up planners’ time
and make their lives easier.” For example,
when the Materials Research Society met in
Phoenix last year, Visit Phoenix enlisted vol-
unteers to stand on street corners with wel-
come signs and direct guests to and from
the Phoenix Convention Center and nearby
restaurants. For the National Association of
the Deaf’s 2016 conference, Phoenix’s visi-
tor center staff and hospitality personnel
took classes to learn how to make the city
friendlier to the deaf.
For qualified groups interested in meeting in Phoenix in 2019, the Phoenix Convention Center and several downtown hotels
are offering a special meetings package. In
addition to receiving up to a million hotel loyalty reward points, groups will receive up to a
$50,000 credit toward an opening-reception
block party, complimentary Wi-Fi (up to 1. 5
mbps) in meeting rooms at the Phoenix Convention Center, complimentary guest-room
Wi-Fi at participating hotels, and waived attrition fees at participating hotels.
