Events held in New Orleans are unlike
any other — and its exquisite venues and
unmatched Southern hospitality are just a
few of the many reasons why New Orleans
is one of the most popular destinations in
the United States for meetings and events.
The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (MCCNO) is perhaps the biggest
reason, as the sixth-largest convention center
in the country is also one of the most technologically advanced. Offering 1. 1 million square
feet of contiguous exhibit space, 140 meetings rooms, two multipurpose ballrooms, and
a 4,000-seat performing-arts theater, MCCNO has been tested by the most demanding
clients from a wide range of industries.
One of MCCNO’s newest spaces, the Great
Hall, has 60,000 square feet of column-free
space, 25,000 square feet of prefunction
space, and interior and exterior balconies
that connect to a large outdoor pedestrian
plaza. The Great Hall also has many high-tech
features, including a high-definition video dis-
play board positioned over its grand entrance
and an energy-efficient lighting system that
can create nearly any color combination. New
Orleans’ dining scene is one of the city’s most
defining features, and the MCCNO’s catering
team is no exception. Centerplate provides
authentic Ne w Orleans culinary experiences
at MCCNO’s three on-site restaurants, fea-
turing live local music and iconic Louisiana
dishes by award-winning chef Donald Link.
MCCNO recently kick-started its new
beautification project, Linear Park. Con-
necting the city’s Warehouse/Arts District
with the historic French Quarter, the tree-
lined pedestrian plaza will include bike lanes
and moving walkways as well as sleek over-
hangs, fountains, green walls, water walls,
and shaded sitting areas for added comfort.
The city has approved plans for the $65-mil-
lion project, and MCCNO expects to estab-
lish a construction timeline soon, which will
stop and start in accordance with planned
meetings and events.
